# Updating The Standalone Add-On

Updating the Homeway standalone add-on is easy - even easier than installing it!

The [Homeway standalone add-on](https://homeway.io/support?source=help_standalone_update) can be used if your Home Assistant doesn't have built-in add-on support. It enables the full power of Homeway on any Home Assistant setup!

To update the Homeway standalone add-on:

1. SSH into the device running the Homeway standalone add-on.
2. Enter `cd ~` to ensure you're in the home directory.
3. Enter `./update-homeway.sh` to run the update script in your home directory.
4. Wait for the script to finish the update.
5. Done!

The update script will automatically pull the code and run the proper update scripts. It's just that easy!
