Set up Your Home Assistant Gemini Custom App
The Homeway Gemini Custom App must be set up in the desktop app or desktop web browser, but will work on all platforms Gemini supports.
- Open the Gemini desktop app or website in your browser.
- Click the settings gear icon and then select “Connected Apps”
- Scroll to the bottom and select “Add a custom app”
- Enter the MCP server URL:

- Click Next
- Approve the permissions
Sometimes the Gemini Custom App setup will fail, saying something about a linked account being required. Simply retry a few times, and the error will resolve itself.
